Mark Lawrenson predicts scoreline and winner in Leeds United v Chelsea clash

Mark Lawrenson has predicted the misery to continue for Leeds United when they take on Chelsea on Wednesday.

The BBC pundit and predictions guru backs the Blues for a comfortable 2-0 win at Elland Road, despite them having nothing left to play for.

From what he saw in the defeat to Arsenal, he does not have any hope for them to pick up any points in their relegation battle from this one.

Leeds United

He told the BBC, “Leeds were frantic and frenzied against Arsenal on Sunday, and it didn’t help them very much.

“They might have lost that game anyhow, but to be beaten the way they were was not a good sign for a team that is now in the thick of a relegation scrap.

“Chelsea are not exactly in convincing form themselves. They threw away a 2-0 lead against Wolves on Saturday and are now looking over their shoulders at Arsenal and Spurs when they should already have their Champions League spot secured.

“In among the hurly burly I am expecting from Leeds, enough of that Blues quality should shine through.”

Written off?

Chelsea have been woeful in recent weeks and they’ve got nothing left to play for.

Most of their players will want to stay fit for the FA Cup final so they will not push themselves to their limit.

They were whooped 5-1 at home to Brentford so this contest is surely there for the taking for Leeds United.

Jesse Marsch needs to start acting like his job is on the line and not be content with a season in the Championship.

The fans are unforgiving and will surely want him to keep the side up in the league, even if it means finishing 17th.

Getting a draw from this game is not an outrageous assumption as failure to do so could make it too much to do in the last two matches.

In other Leeds United news, a first-team regular has turned down a new Elland Road contract and will sign it only under one condition.
