Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Leicester v Leeds United

A new era at Leeds United is about to kick-start as Jesse Marsch prepares his team against Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday (5 March).

Marcelo Bielsa leaves the club with good memories and blessings from everyone, but it is time for the Whites to move on.

The results have been really poor in recent months, and Mark Lawrenson doesn’t see the suffering to end this weekend, with Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford still out injured.

Leeds United

Lawrenson said while predicting a 2-0 defeat for the Whites, as quoted on the BBC Sport website: “Leicester’s late win at Burnley will have lifted the whole squad for several reasons – it was their first league victory and clean sheet of 2022, plus Jamie Vardy was back fit for the first time this year and scored too.

“All of that means this is a tricky start for new Leeds boss Jesse Marsch. I’d expect a determined performance from his side and they might make themselves more difficult to beat, but I don’t see it being a quick fix, especially while Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford remain injured.”

Fresh start

Bielsa did a great job at Leeds and the club will always be grateful for what he gave to the club.

However, with just one win in seven league games, including five defeats, there was a need to make a change.

A new manager brings new ideas and changes, and it will be interesting to see if Leeds can return to winning ways finally.

They have lost four games in a row and the squad is bereft of confidence at the moment.

Leicester have been going through a stuttering form, but they will be feeling a lot better after winning 2-0 against Burnley in their previous game.

It was their first win in the last five games and it certainly lifted off the pressure on Brendan Rodgers.

Lawrenson is spot on that Leeds fans shouldn’t expect a “quick fix” under their new manager, but Marsch will be looking to make a positive start.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in the race to sign this Dutch set-piece specialist from the EFL this summer.
