Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Leeds United Premier League clash vs Tottenham Hotspur

Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction for the weekend Premier League clash between Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur before the World Cup break.

The Whites have won their last two Premier League outings with injury time winners from Crysencio Summerville against Liverpool and Bournemouth, but were beaten in midweek by Wolves in the Carabao Cup.

They’ll be taking on a struggling Spurs side in north London on Saturday 3pm, but Lawrenson expects that Jesse Marsch’s side could struggle to match Tottenham’s physicality and expects a routine home win while writing in his Paddy Power column (11 November).

“Both went out of the Carabao during the week but you know that when you play agianst Leeds it’s going to be difficult as you have to match them physically,” he said.

“Tottenham are having a bit of a wobble but I don’t see anything other than a home win. Tottenham 2-0 Leeds.”

This has been a really tough period for Leeds, but their two most recent wins have eased the pressure on Marsch and have given the team belief and focus.

The midweek defeat to Wolves wouldn’t have been ideal, but it can’t be ignored that it was a hugely changed lineup for the game and they performed well until conceding a late goal.

Almost the entire starting lineup has been given the week to rest and prepare for this game, while Spurs played a lot of first-team aces in their clash with Nottingham Forest and were also elimintated.

Add to that the fact that Antonio Conte admitted Harry Kane was “really, really tired” and this is a big opportunity for Leeds to set a cat amongst the pigeons and claim another win.

It won’t be easy, especially away from home, but Leeds are well set up to cause Spurs trouble in this game and hopefully we can prove Lawrenson wrong with a good performance.

In other Leeds news, one attacker should be fit for the game after fresh injury blow this week
