Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Leeds United Premier League clash v Bournemouth
Mark Lawrenson believes Leeds may have “turned a corner” with their win over Liverpool last week and has predicted them to beat Bournemouth.
The Whites snapped an eight-game winless run last week with a 2-1 win at Anfield, and now take on Bournemouth who have lost their last three in a row at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
And Lawrenson, who was giving his predictions for this round of fixtures to Paddy Power [4 November], thinks Jesse Marsch’s side will use the momentum in their favour to claim a 2-1 win in this clash.
“I saw Leeds last week at Anfield when they won 2-1 and they were good, they were competitive,” he said.
“Bournemouth are in the middle of a losing streak so I think Leeds will use that momentum and maybe they’ve turned a corner. Leeds 2-1 Bournemouth.”
A clean sheet will undoubtedly be something we take in an ideal world, but no fans will be complaining about the result so long as we leave with all three points.
It’s been a rough season so far but stringing together results could be the difference between a relegation battle and a top half finish with the way the season has panned out so far.
There are currently only five points separating the top half of the table and the relegation zone, so getting a run of consecutive wins could help Leeds pull away from a scrap while a defeat could drag them right back in.
It’s really important to ensure the win over Liverpool wasn’t for nothing by beating the teams in and around us, and Marsch will know that a result will help him hugely when it comes to his job.
With just three games to go before the World Cup break, if the team can sign off with victories then it’ll surely be a much brighter 2023 than originally anticipated just a few weeks ago.
