Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Leeds United clash v Crystal Palace in the Premier League

Mark Lawrenson has made his prediction for the Premier League clash between Leeds United and Crystal Palace this weekend (9 April).

The Whites moved away from the relegation zone with a big 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in midweek and now have the second of three straight games at Elland Road to contest against another relegation rival.

But despite Roy Hodgson’s return and their win against Fulham last weekend, Lawrenson told Paddy Power (6 April) he is backing Leeds to get the win and stay in the Premier League.

“I’m going to go for Leeds to win this, Javi Gracia’s done a good job,” he said. “They’re going well and they’ve got the bit between their teeth.

“I fancy Leeds to beat Crystal Palace and I know Roy Hodgson got a great result during the week, they’ll just sit in, but I’ve always thought Leeds would stay up whoever the manager is because they’ve just got something about them. Leeds 2-0 Crystal Palace.”

Leeds finally look like a proper Premier League side under Javi Gracia since the departure of Jesse Marsch, and we’re getting the results to prove it.

Gracia has won three of his games as manager, the same amount we had won all season before he came in and now there is a small gap between us and the drop zone.

Obviously that can all count for nothing if we stop giving our all and getting points on the board, because other teams are also fighting for their lives at the bottom.

Palace are one of those teams battling away, but with the Elland Road crowd behind the team pushing them over the line, we should be expecting to come away with all three points to really separate ourselves.

We’re playing well and in good form, so it’s no surprise that Lawrenson is backing us to get the win. Now we have to perform and ensure that we don’t let anyone down.

In other Leeds news, the club want to sign a La Liga ace that has a £85.7m release clause.
