Mark Lawrenson predicts outcome of Leeds United v Aston Villa

Leeds United will take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday (1 October) at Elland Road, and Mark Lawrenson has predicted a draw.

The Whites are undefeated at home this season, having picked up two wins and a draw at Elland Road.

Steven Gerrard’s side are heading into this game on the back of a 1-0 win against Southampton, and Lawrenson feels they will pick up a point on their visit, predicting a 1-1 scoreline.

Leeds United

“Leeds are always difficult to beat at home, they’ve done okay overall so far. They work extremely hard but Villa got a much needed win last time. Villa need another positive result to keep the points ticking along but they look a bit all over the place defensively. Leeds 1-1 Aston Villa,” said Lawrenson to Paddy Power.

Home advantage

Leeds have been brilliant at home this season so far, picking up wins against Wolves and Chelsea already.

The new signings have made a strong impact already, and they will be hoping to continue their impressive form at home.

Villa hinted at returning back to form after a stuttering start, having earned a draw against Manchester City and then winning against Southampton away from home.

However, both the clubs need to restart after the international break. Villa are missing some of their key players through injuries but they do have a strong squad to cope with it.

The same can’t be about the Whites. The international break has come at the right time for them, and Marsch now have almost a fully fit squad to choose from.

The Whites, meanwhile, are winless in their last three games, picking up only a point. They will also be without their manager in the dug out, after he picked up a red card against Brentford in the previous game.
