Mark Lawrenson predicts Leeds United will be beaten easily by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men have won their last two matches meaning a top-half finish is well within their sights on their first season back in the Premier League.
As it stands, the Whites are 11th, level on 42 points with 10th-placed Arsenal.
Man City, on the other hand, can take yet another stride towards winning the Premier League title as they aim to extend their existing 14-point lead at the top of the standings.
Liverpool legend Lawrenson expects them to do exactly that and has tipped Pep Guardiola’s side to win 3-0 over Leeds.
“Leeds gave Manchester City a really good game at Elland Road in October, but Pep Guardiola’s side look like a totally different team these days,” Lawrenson said on the BBC Sport website.
“I know Leeds will be adventurous, but I just don’t see them having very much of the ball.
“Guardiola can afford to rest whoever he wants to rest before his side go to Borussia Dortmund for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final next Wednesday, and I don’t think it will make much difference.”
Don’t write us off
As Lawro says, Guardiola could make plenty of changes to the Man City starting line-up as they played in the Champions League on Tuesday night and are due to play Borussia Dortmund again in the second leg of their quarter-final clash on Wednesday.
Man City are well clear at the top of the Premier League so they can afford to rest key players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan after they played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Dortmund on Tuesday.
It could help Leeds but Bielsa also has an issue of his own with Jack Harrison unavailable to play against his parent club.
Harrison is widely expected to put pen to paper on a permanent deal with the Whites in the summer to officially make himself a Leeds United player but for now, he remains on the books at Man City and therefore ineligible.
It remains to be seen who’ll replace him but we have a lot of faith in Bielsa and we don’t think this game will be as easy for the Citizens as Lawrenson seems to believe.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been handed a major transfer boost in their bid to sign this player with a summer offer on the cards.
