Marcelo Bielsa shares one-word answer when asked about job opportunity at PL rivals
Marcelo Bielsa spoke at length during his press conference on Friday ahead of Leeds United’s clash against Manchester United this weekend.
The Leeds manager didn’t shy away from talking about the Whites’ rivalry with the Red Devils and also his win at Old Trafford when he was in charge of Athletic Bilbao.
However, when asked whether he had ever been approached for the Man United job in recent years, Bielsa was extremely abrupt.

According to LeedsLive, Bielsa was asked: “Manchester United have changed managers four times in the last seven years. At any point have they or their representatives approached you or your representatives to talk about a vacancy?”
He responded simply by saying: “No.”

No-nonsense Bielsa
Bielsa showed on Friday that if you ask him good questions, he’ll give you good answers. If you ask him a pointless question like that then you’re going to get a short response.
Man United have gone through the managers since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
If those journalists had kept a closer eye on Man United’s tendency to swap managers, then they would have been told Bielsa was not an option.
Sure, there’s no harm in asking but when Bielsa is on form like he was on Friday, what’s the point in asking him about speculation? He hardly ever gives a detailed response to questions like that so we assume the person who asked him was from a national newspaper or from one of the bigger broadcasters.
We’re glad United never went in for Bielsa but knowing how they’ve hired managers in the past, they wouldn’t have gone for him and would have gone for someone who got Cardiff relegated instead.
