Marcelo Bielsa shares Leeds working methodology

Leeds United will travel to north London to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League clash on Sunday.

The Whites managed just one win in their last five games in all competitions.

With no international break coming up till March, it’s high time Leeds should pick up some form and build momentum.

In the press conference today, Marcelo Bielsa was asked whether it is important to follow or analyse leagues around the world to prepare a game, especially if managers come from foreign leagues.

The Argentine has suggested that it is not an easy thing to do, and they do not follow this methodology at Leeds either. He feels that it would be impossible to implement as there are plenty of leagues and coaches around the world.

“No, we don’t do that. Imagine the amount of leagues, the amount of coaches that shine,” said Bielsa, as quoted by Leeds Live.

“To implement what you’re proposing would be impossible to implement.

“Also, the managers that shine, they’re always described and so for that reason whenever a new manager comes into the life it’s not hard to imagine or interpret their style of play. Not that it’s easy, but it is possible.”

World-class manager

Bielsa is one of those managers who has an encyclopaedic knowledge on what’s going on everywhere.

In the spy-gate incident, the amount of detailing Bielsa came up with for Derby County players was really amazing. He has this peculiar habit of following every minute detail.

So, we won’t be surprised if he has followed Antonio Conte’s spell at Inter Milan with great details.

To be fair, Bielsa is not a reactive manager. He has a distinct footballing philosophy and he sticks by it. That’s why Leeds are such an entertaining team to watch.

We’ve been naïve at times, we’ve suffered some heavy defeats, but we’ve abandoned our natural style under Bielsa.

Having said that, we need to turn things around and climb up the table quickly.
