Marcelo Bielsa sent image of newspaper advert from Leeds United fans – Phil Hay

Marcelo Bielsa has received an image of the Argentinean newspaper advert organised by Leeds United fans, according to Phil Hay.

As reported by The Athletic on 16 April, Leeds fans took out a full-page advert in the La Capital newspaper, which is based in Bielsa’s home of Rosario in Argentina.

The ad thanked Bielsa for everything he’d done for Leeds before he was sacked by the club in February.

According to The Athletic’s Hay, while Bielsa hasn’t publicly responded to the advert, “he is understood to have been sent an image of it at least”.

Thank you, Marcelo

It says it all about Bielsa and Leeds United.

Not only does it show just how dedicated our fans are but it also shows how highly regarded the Argentine is – and always will be – at Elland Road.

Bielsa’s not one to throw himself into the media spotlight of his own accord.

While he chatted at length in a lot of his press conferences about his philosophy, you also got the feeling that sometimes he’d rather not be put in front of a camera and asked for the latest of Leeds’ injury crisis.

After a rather intense few years in the UK and a long spell without seeing his family due to COVID, we guess that Bielsa is just enjoying the free time with his wife.

Hay reports that they’d been on holiday together, which is great to know.

Whatever you think about Leeds’ decision to sack Bielsa, you cannot argue with the fact that El Loco needed a break and some time to be with his loved ones.

Jesse Marsch is doing a great job since taking over.

We’ll never look down on Bielsa but it’s nice that everything, so far, is working out just as planned.

In other Leeds United news, it seems the Whites have granted permission for this midfielder to leave Elland Road for good.
