Marcelo Bielsa on verge of agreeing new Leeds United contract

Marcelo Bielsa is on the verge of agreeing a new deal at Leeds United amid ongoing talks with owner Andrea Radrizzani, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper reports that “there is an expectation behind the scenes at Elland Road that Bielsa has decided to stay and remains totally committed to the project he started back in 2018”.

Bielsa has only ever agreed a one-year deal at a time at Leeds but concerns over him possibly leaving this summer are all but quashed amid this latest update from the Telegraph.

It is understood Bielsa’s been in constant dialogue with Radrizzani and has plans in place for the club for next season.

Senior sources have reportedly told the Telegraph that everything is “completely relaxed” and there are “no concerns” in regards to Bielsa’s future at Elland Road.

Greatest signing we’ll make this year

You can point to Radrizzani and Victor Orta, you can point to the players and you can even point to the fans. But there’s no denying that the main man in Leeds’ return to the Premier League and success of the last few years is mainly down to Bielsa.

Not only has he taken the club back to the promised land and even secured a second top-flight season but he has also made us love Leeds United again.

Radrizzani gave Leeds back to the fans.

Bielsa gave Leeds back to the Premier League.

He’s done a magnificent job at Elland Road and no manager in England has done a better job than he has in the last few seasons.

Just look at where this squad was after the end of Radrizzani’s first full season as owner.

Bielsa inherited a squad of frustrating, under-performing players like Luke Aylin, Liam Cooper, Ezgjan Alioski, Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich among them.

They’re all Premier League players now, despite being underwhelming mid-table Championship ones back in 2018.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ahead of AC Milan in the race to sign this “world-class” player.
