Marcelo Bielsa ‘not looking to blame others’ as pressure increases for Leeds United manager ahead of Arsenal clash

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa taken full responsibility for his team’s poor start to the 2021/22 campaign.

The Whites find themselves in 16th place after winning only one of their last five games in the Premier League, including a 7-0 demolition against Manchester City.

Bielsa has put the onus on himself and his team as they look to turn their season around and get themselves out of the relegation scrap, they currently find themselves in.

Today Bielsa has spoken to the media ahead of their clash with Arsenal on Saturday (18th December).

As per the club’s official website, he said: “They [Arsenal] are one of the important teams in the league.

“At this moment, we’re especially concerned about getting back to our best moment, rather than the opponent we’re coming up against.

“The immediate and what is closest, is that against Chelsea we played our best game of the season up until now, then against City, the worst. Both versions were produced with two or three days difference.

“I have the confidence and the obligation to manage for us to reproduce the performance against Chelsea, not the one against Manchester City. Having a high spirit is part of my job.

“To be able to face the most difficult moments, you come out of them correcting things, taking on board things, not delegating responsibilities, not looking to blame others, they’re all the things we try to do.”

Leeds will look to replicate their performance against fellow Londoners Chelsea as Bielsa hailed that their ‘best game of the season’.

This may prove difficult with Arteta and Arsenal’s form as they climbed to fourth last night following a 2-0 victory over West Ham.

Leeds will hopefully benefit from the support of a home crowd (COVID-19 depending) but anything other than a positive result could cause further groans from Leeds fans and put more pressure on Bielsa’s job.
