Marcelo Bielsa: Kiko Casilla will start final two Leeds games this season
Marcelo Bielsa shocked us all on Tuesday evening as he started Kiko Casilla for Leeds United in their Premier League clash with Southampton.
The Spaniard is disgraced at Elland Road, and his last start only came because Illan Meslier contracted COVID-19 for the Brighton clash.
It appears as though Casilla will also start against West Brom on Sunday afternoon too, as Bielsa hands him chances before predictably leaving West Yorkshire.
BBC journalist Adam Pope shared the update on his personal Twitter account, as Bielsa addressed Sky Sports on the change ahead of kick-off.
“Bielsa has said tonight to Sky he wants to see Casilla finish the season in goal,” he wrote.
Surely not.
We can’t believe our eyes.
Casilla will surely be leaving this summer, and Bielsa has seen the outrage that his inclusion has caused throughout the season after he was found guilty of racial abuse.
We don’t want players like that at our club, and the fact that he will be starting in front of fans on Sunday too against West Brom is subjecting him to potential jeers.
No one wants to associate our club with players like that, and it is also an insult to Meslier, who deserves the chance to be celebrated after his magnificent first full season in goal.
The young Frenchman has been one of our standout stars at Elland Road, and the fact he isn’t being even slightly rewarded by starting against West Brom is a joke.
We hope Bielsa changes his mind, and this is the last time we have to see Casilla starting for the mighty Whites.
