Marcelo Bielsa: Crysencio Summerville was not injured ahead of Spurs clash
Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that not including Crysencio Summerville for the Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspur clash was not injury related.
The 20-year-old was not picked by the Argentine for the game, with the Leeds boss opting to take younger places as part of the travelling squad.
15-year-old Archie Gray also travelled with the squad, but Summerville was not to be seen.
Bielsa said, via the Yorkshire Evening Post, if Summerville was injured, “I decided for [Liam] McCarron and [Stuart] McKinstry.”
Fallen in the pecking order?
The Dutchman started the season with plenty of promise with impressive performances for the Under-23s.
His next logical step seemed like the senior team and he did pretty well there at the start.
However, of late, his performances have been far from impressive and Bielsa may not be as impressed with him as he was previously.
Hopefully, Summerville continues performing at the level we know he can as he’s got a sky-high potential and can reach it at Elland Road.
The club’s got phenomenal coaches that work week in and week out with youngsters.
We will be waiting to see if Bielsa decides to include him in the squad this weekend against Brighton.
With Raphinha also set to return to the team, Joe Gelhardt could make way and take up another spot on the bench.
The best way for Summerville to force his way back could be via the Under-23s.
In other Leeds United news, the club are tracking a contract rebel who they are keen on signing in January
