Marcelo Bielsa confirms Leeds United team news v Aston Villa

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed his Leeds United team news for the Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

There was hope that the break will have helped Patrick Bamford, but the striker continues to struggle at Thorp Arch.

The news was relayed by Phil Hay on Twitter, with Bamford not even jogging yet as he continues to be ruled out.

Injury latest: Phillips and Cooper in "final stages" of recovery but no improvement with Bamford's foot injury. Bielsa says he hasn't started running yet.

We have just about coped with the players we have now.

Bamford is really starting to become a concern, and we are just thankful that the likes of Raphinha have stayed fit.

The winger is different class, and has dragged us through at times, and now players are coming back, hopefully the less responsibility allows him to express himself even more.

It looks as though this winter break has done Leeds the world of good.

Pictures emerged on social media of the likes of Charlie Cresswell, Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips returning to the grass at Thorp Arch.

This season has been shocking for injuries at Elland Road, and it is miraculous that we aren’t lower in the league than we are.

Losing your captain, one of your best players and your main number nine for the majority of the season is unheard of, but yet here we are.

There is a big gap between the Whites and the relegation zone, but it would be great to pick up points against Villa and Everton before that huge week against Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester United.
