Marcelo Bielsa admits he is considering utilising ‘high value’ Leeds player who starred v Hull
Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that he is considering utilising Tyler Roberts to potentially replace the misfiring Patrick Bamford.
The Welsh international came off the bench in the 4-0 victory against Hull City on Saturday and managed to score a brace in his 23 minutes on the pitch.
Bielsa admitted that Roberts is a ‘high value’ player at Elland Road and that he is a clear option to lead the line for the Whites.
Next up in the Championship is Huddersfield at Elland Road, and Bielsa revealed that he has to consider Roberts as an option.
“Clearly it is an option,” he told Leeds Live.
“Tyler can play in this position. Normally we always have two players to fight for one position. He can be an option for Patrick and he also can be an option for Klich or Pablo as a playmaker.
“When one striker scores, of course, that has a high value and after that, the manager considers this.”
Given Bielsa’s stubbornness, it seems strange that he has come out and admitted he is considering utilising Roberts against the likes of Huddersfield.
We believe it is more than likely that Bamford will once again lead the line against the Terriers on Saturday. The 26-year-old worked hard against Hull on Saturday, and the truth is that helped open up the game for the likes of Roberts to take advantage of – something he did expertly.
It is hard to remember the last time a Leeds forward scored with each shot on goal he had, and that is exactly what Roberts did at the KCOM [WhoScored].
