Marc Roca on track to complete Leeds United loan exit as update on Real Betis permanent clause emerges

Marc Roca is on track to complete a loan move from Leeds United to Real Betis this summer, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The publication noted that the Spanish club are trying to include an option-to-buy clause into the loan deal.

Roca joined the Whites last summer from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on a four-year deal, making 36 appearances in all competitions last season.

“The signing of Marc Roca is on track and Real Betis is trying to fit it into the economic adjustment and the budget that the squad has for next season,” according to a report from Estadio Deportivo.

The report added that Roca would arrive on loan this summer, with Betis “trying to include a purchase option in the contract that is helping to delay the agreement, but it is seen with a view to the future.”

Frustrating spell

Roca arrived at Elland Road last season with high expectations, much like many of his fellow new faces in West Yorkshire.

But things quickly turned sour, particularly for the Spaniard, who lost his place in the starting XI upon the January arrival of loanee Weston McKennie from Juventus.

That would have been a real kick in the teeth for Roca, who did at least find a way back into the Whites starting XI, but only because of a long-term injury to fellow midfielder Tyler Adams.

It seems that both midfielders will leave Elland Road this summer after the club’s relegation to the Championship, with both capable of playing a much higher standard of football.

Still, last season will represent a very frustrating period in the career of Roca, with the 26-year-old undoubtedly eager to put that all behind him with a move back to Spain, having previously lined out for Espanyol.

In other Leeds United news, an exit for Georginio Rutter is now on the cards as a development regarding the striker emerges.
