Marc Roca agents jet out to Spain as Leeds United set to green light Elland Road exit

Marc Roca’s agents are currently in Seville trying to seal the midfielder’s exit from Leeds United, according to Spanish newspaper, ABC.

It’s believed the 26-year-old’s representatives have made the trip to finalise an agreement with Real Betis, who are eager to complete a loan move (ABC print edition, pg 63, 14 June).

Leeds’ change of ownership has made a move harder than expected, however, they are expected to green-light the Spaniard’s return to his homeland.

Makes sense

Roca’s departure from Elland Road does make an awful lot of sense.

Leeds need players who are capable of getting out of the second tier. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old has no Championship experience and it’s hard to envisage him being part of a successful promotion-winning team.

He’s probably a high-earner, which also makes a lot of sense for the board. We know the 49ers now have control of the club, but they will have to be prudent when it comes to their transfer business.

Potentially wheeling and dealing could be the smart way to operate. Looking for players who have experience of getting promoted with a mixture of youth should be the route to go down for the board.

As for Roca, he’s just another name to add to Victor Orta’s failed transfers. The former sporting director did have some success stories, but, on the whole, his transfer business during his tenure at Leeds United was largely disappointing.
