Many Leeds fans want to re-sign £35k-a-wk player: Bielsa would turn him into ‘Prime Xavi’

Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to urge the club to re-sign Lewis Cook following Bournemouth’s relegation from the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa was spotted watching the Cherries as they beat Everton 3-1 on the final day of the season but that win did not stop Eddie Howe’s side from suffering the drop down to the Championship.

Although Bournemouth have been relegated, there are a number of players in that side who are bound to attract plenty of interest this summer.

Callum Wilson, Josh King, Nathan Ake and Aaron Ramsdale are among the best players at the Vitality Stadium but another interesting name – especially for Leeds fans – is former Whites midfielder Cook.

Since quitting Elland Road to join Bournemouth in 2016, Cook has made 85 appearances in all competitions.

He has struggled with injuries down on the south coast, with an ankle injury scuppering his start to life at Bournemouth before he suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury last season.

As good as Cook was when he was bursting onto the scene at Leeds, do we see him being that same player now?

Bielsa can get the best out of a lot of players but an injury-prone midfielder who is someone he might struggle to improve – even though one fan says Bielsa can turn Cook into “prime Xavi”.

We like Cook but there have to be better options out there for Leeds than the £35,000-a-week [Spotrac] Cherries player.

Given his injury issues, we can see him struggling to meet Bielsa’s high fitness demands without hurting himself regularly.
