Many English club fans gutted as Leeds reportedly eye centre-back: 'Be gone for around £2m'
It seems that Leeds United are barking up the right tree based on how some Ipswich fans have reacted to the Whites’ reported interest in Luke Woolfenden.
It is understood that Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and QPR are also keen on the former Bromley and Swindon loanee, who has played 36 times across all competitions for Ipswich this season.
Woolfenden’s contract at Portman Road is due to expire at the end of next season but the third-tier club does have the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
Still, Leeds are pursuing him and based on how Ipswich fans have reacted, it is good news for the Elland Road faithful.
One way to gauge how good a player is when your club is aiming to sign him is to see how rival fans are reacting to the news.
Woolfenden is a good young defender who’s playing well and is a product of the academy at Portman Road so, naturally, Ipswich fans are disappointed to see this interest in him.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Be gone for around £2 million, and then sold on by Palace or Leeds for £30 million in 18 months. It’s the Ipswich way
