Manor Solomon priority emerges ahead of Leeds United transfer

Manor Solomon has impressed while on loan at Leeds United from Premier League side Tottenham this season.

The Whites still sit top of the Championship table despite their 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth on Sunday, and Solomon has been vital to those efforts with seven goals and seven assists in 29 second tier outings.

Solomon was on particularly good form last month, delivering an assist as well as scoring during the 4-0 win at Watford on 11 February.

He was also a constant threat out wide when Leeds recently enjoyed consecutive wins over direct promotion rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United.

Leeds could acquire Solomon permanently

The Whites could be sitting top of the Championship table with just nine games remaining if they manage to defeat a mid-table Millwall outfit at Elland Road on Wednesday.

Therefore, while Daniel Farke must not let momentum slip in the battle for promotion amid fierce competition from both Sheffield United and Burnley, the West Yorkshire side must also ready themselves for the prospect of Premier League football next term.

Solomon has been a real asset for the Whites this term

With that in mind, Leeds must enjoy a successful summer transfer window and according to The Sun [10 March], Solomon’s future at Elland Road will be a “top priority” for the club.

That could mean the Whites will look to buy him on a permanent transfer, while they could also seek another loan deal for the Spurs wideman.

Leeds must get back to winning ways

The West Yorkshire giants’ interest in prioritising Solomon’s future is a clear nod to the fact that Farke and co expect to be plying their trade in the Premier League next season.

But Sheffield United would leapfrog Leeds to top-spot in the Championship with a victory over play-off hopefuls Bristol City at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Burnley would also overtake Farke’s men if they defeat West Brom, who are also vying for a top-six spot, at Turf Moor on Tuesday.

However, Leeds should remain focused on themselves rather than their promotion rivals because a victory over Millwall would see them sitting at the Championship’s summit regardless of other results.

Farke’s side have now dropped points in each of their last two games, though, as they were held to a 1-1 draw with West Brom on 1 March before their defeat to Portsmouth last time out.

Audacious moves such as a potential swoop for the permanent services of Solomon will surely only be possible for Leeds if they clinch promotion.
