Manor Solomon sets new target ahead of Portsmouth v Leeds United

Leeds United star Manor Solomon has delivered what could be a terrifying warning for rival Championship defences this season.

The Whites sit top of the Championship table, but are now level on points with second place Sheffield United after the Blades defeated Preston on Saturday.

Leeds enjoyed three consecutive victories over Watford, Sunderland and Sheffield United before being held to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road by West Brom last time out.

The Whites will be looking to get back to winning ways against Portsmouth on Sunday, but they have not won at Fratton Park since 1986.

Solomon reveals how he can help Leeds United promotion push

Despite playing one game fewer than promotion rivals such as Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland, Leeds are comfortably the top scorers in the Championship, having collectively notched 72 goals in 35 outings so far.

Solomon has played his role in those efforts, as he has scored seven goals as well as creating seven assists in 28 appearances and 19 starts.

However, he wants even more, as the winger told LUTV: “Of course, there are 11 games to go so I want to add more goals, more assists, I want to help more, to help the team get its goal and I am sure it will happen until the end of the season.”

Solomon has been in good form of late, and contributed to Leeds’ 4-0 win over Watford last month with both a goal and an assist.

He is currently on loan with the Whites from Premier League side Tottenham, and his performances in West Yorkshire have attracted transfer interest from the likes of Southampton, while Daniel Farke’s side also want to sign him permanently.

Solomon’s mentality could help Leeds seal promotion

Leeds fancy their chances of sealing a Premier League return come the end of the season, regardless of what their rivals are doing.

However, a defeat against Portsmouth on Sunday would leave them level on points with their closest title rivals Sheffield United, and just two points clear of third place Burnley.

In recent weeks, though, the Whites have displayed their unrelenting winning mentality, as they left it late to seal vital wins over the Blades and Sunderland.

Meanwhile, one of Farke’s best assets this season has been Solomon, whose efforts will have satisfied the Elland Road faithful.

But the fact that the man on loan from Tottenham is keen to add even more goals and assists, despite already managing an average of one goal contribution every two games in the Championship, shows just how strong the mentality among the Leeds squad is.

Solomon’s unquestionable attitude could help Leeds clinch the Championship title and seal promotion back to the Premier League.
