Manchester United monitoring Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, nothing close – Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United are monitoring Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, but believes there is ‘nothing close to being complete’.
`Phillips has been linked with a £60m move away from Elland Road this summer, with the club’s Premier League status currently up in the air with their relegation battle.
After reports that Manchester United were actively working on a deal to take the 26-year-old to Old Trafford [MEN], Romano told Vibe with FIVE that it is a ‘really interesting’ situation right now.
“There are players they are exploring,” he said.
“I saw some reports on [Kalvin] Phillips, could be a really interesting name in the midfield.
“He is one of the names that Manchester United are monitoring, but at the moment there is nothing close to being complete.”
Scary times
It seems as though Leeds are once again that club who have got players good enough to play at a level above, and it’s hard to keep players in that situation.
Leeds are realistically not anywhere near playing European football, but Phillips is absolutely one of the guys in the squad who is more than capable of stepping up to that level if needs be.

But Phillips absolutely loves the club and the fans, being one himself, and a move to Old Trafford would see almost impossible for any true White.
That said, we said the same thing about Alan Smith way back when and he ended up in a red shirt, so it’s impossible to say there is no chance.
Thankfully nothing seems close according to Romano and the club are confident of tying him down to a new contract, which would be the best news after securing their Premier League status the club could ask for this summer.
