Manchester United keeping close tabs on Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier
Leeds United goalkeeper is emerging as a long-term target for Manchester United, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The report claims that United sent goalkeeping scout Tony Coton to personally watch Meslier on Tuesday night as Leeds suffered a 7-0 defeat against Manchester City.
United’s chief scout Jim Lawlor has also watched Meslier and the Mail adds: “There is talk in scouting circles of United having identified the 21-year-old as the best young keeper in the country.”

Tough call
United are well stocked for goalkeepers but Dean Henderson wants to leave the club at the end of the season, after failing to reclaim the top spot from David de Gea.
The Spaniard has 18 months left on his current deal, but his future has also come under speculation.
Meslier is seen as United’s long-term target.

The 21-year-old is in his third season at the club. The Frenchman has established himself as a brilliant young keeper, with BBC Sport hailing him as “sensational”.
In fact, Meslier was named the club’s young player of the year after his impressive performance in the Premier League last season.
Leeds have no reason to panic here. Meslier signed a new five-year contract in August, and the Whites are in no mood to sell him.
Considering the rivalry between the two clubs, it will be interesting to see if Leeds would be interested in selling him to United even if the offer is right.
