Manchester United could offer James Garner to Leeds United in Kalvin Phillips deal

Manchester United could reportedly use James Garner as a sweetener to sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.

According to the Daily Express, the Red Devils have earmarked the England international as a key transfer target for this summer.

Garner, after an impressive spell on loan at Nottingham Forest and scoring some ‘sensational‘ goals, has been linked with a move to the Whites.

No chance

Even if Leeds want to do this deal because of the economic benefits, there’s no chance Phillips would move there.

He’s a hardcore Whites fan and has been born and brought up with his entire family following them.

If there’s one club he hated while growing up, it was the Old Trafford outfit.

For him to leave and join Manchester United would burn bridges with the Elland Road faithful.

Even if Phillips wants to move to bigger things, he is unlikely to want to do that as his final act.

The Reds can keep dreaming about the 26-year-old but there seems to be no chance of them getting them.

Garner, on the other hand, could move to Leeds, just like Dan James did last summer, in order to gain first-team minutes.

He will be a regular starter at Elland Road and would likely play alongside and not instead of Phillips at the heart of the Whites midfield.

The two would undoubtedly complement each other and Jesse Marsch would be thrilled if the club manage to get this one over the line this summer.

In Leeds United news, an under-the-radar court case involving the transfer of a Leeds player has reached its conclusion with the final payout revealed.
