Manchester United could eye move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams to replace Fred

Manchester United announced the agreement for sale of Fred on Friday (11 August) and their focus may return to Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams after his failed Chelsea move.

The 24-year-old looked all set to secure his move to Stamford Bridge after the Blues matched his £20million release clause.

Phil Hay wrote on the Athletic blog on 11 August that he was in London to finalise the move but an agreement could not be reached with Chelsea.

This saw the 24-year-old return to Elland Road and thus far, he remains a Leeds player with a move anywhere else not looking to be on the cards.

Given his relegation clause, Leeds are powerless to keep the American at the club if someone triggers it and he accepts the move.

Manchester United, who have been interested in signing Adams, according to 90min on 7 August, continue to retain an interest in him.

They’ve just sold Fred and Scott McTominay continues to be linked with the exit door and the combined fees from both sales could see them signing Adams and still having spare cash.

They will be short on midfielders and especially someone to offer cover for Casemiro so they could amplify their pursuit of the Leeds midfielder.

Whether or not he fancies a move to Old Trafford, remains to be seen, but there is every reason to believe that they could try convincing him.

In other Leeds United news, the club could look to rekindle their interest in a Golden Boot winner who Daniel Farke will love and it will take £15million to get the deal done.
