Manchester City owed handsome payout if Leeds United sell Jack Harrison

Leeds United would owe Manchester a handsome payout this summer if they decided to sell Jack Harrison, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Premier League champions included a sell-on cluase when sanctioning the permanent move to Elland Road last summer.

It comes after Newcastle have launched bids for Harrison during this window, with a £35million price tag said to currently be on his head.

Writing in his latest column for the Telegraph, James Ducker shared the news that will likely put the Whites even further off selling their star winger now.

“The champions have spent £110m so far but they have already recouped £232m in sales in 2022 and that figure could hit £250m before the summer is out since youngsters Samuel Edozie and Issa Kabore could still leave for substantial fees,” he wrote.

“City are also in line for handsome sell-on clause payments if Jack Harrison and Ivan Illic leave Leeds and Hellas Verona respectively this summer.”

Revelation.

Harrison has improved nearly every single year at the club going into his fifth year with the Whites.

With Raphinha leaving and Luis Sinisterra currently injured, he will be given a huge role at the start of the new Premier League season, with a lot of weight on his shoulders.

Newcastle may be interested, and City may want that to happen so they can rake in some of the cash thrown our way by the even richer Magpies this summer.

Thankfully, Andrea Radrizzani is keeping that so-called valuation very high, and it is making Newcastle turn up their noses as they look for a new winger.

Pep Guardiola and his team including this clause just show how much they believed in his ability, and this remains one of our bargain transfers in recent years after numerous loan spells.

Marcelo Bielsa helped his progression, but it is down to him to keep it going under Jesse Marsch, something which he certainly managed in our final run last season.

No payouts here, not this summer at least.
