Major blow for Brighton with four players likely to miss Leeds game - report

Brighton will likely be missing four key players for the game against Leeds United, manager Graham Potter has been confirmed.

As reported by Sussex Live, Potter explained that Tariq Lamptey, Aaron Connolly, Danny Welbeck and Adam Lallana will all be missing.

The latter remains sidelined through illness, while respective groin and hamstring injuries will rule the other three players out.

Leeds have the luxury of a midweek break following their FA Cup defeat, while Brighton, after going all the way to penalties over the weekend, have to travel to Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Lamptey the biggest miss for Brighton

The former Chelsea man has been a revelation for Graham Potter’s side since his move from Stamford Bridge.

However, Lamptey has missed Brighton’s last four Premier League games and his absence is beginning to show.

As per WhoScored, Brighton favour the right-hand side the most when attacking, so missing out on Lamptey’s energy and pace down that flank can only be considered as a boost for Leeds.

Potter recently revealed that his team were still searching for the right balance without Lamptey in the side, which highlights just how important he has become as a creative outlet in such a short space of time.

Only Solly March and Yves Bissouma have outscored the young defender in terms of average match ratings for the Seagulls this season.

Between them, the missing quartet of Lallana, Lamptey, Connelly and Welbeck five goals and three assists between them, meaning the Premier League strugglers could be blunt in attack against the Whites.
