'Magnificent' - Chris Kamara praises key off-field Leeds asset in exchange with Jeff Stelling
Chris Kamara has praised Leeds United fans and players for their “magnificent” sense of unity this season.
The Whites are currently top of the Championship table with nine games to go, but are as yet uncertain as to whether or not they will be able to play those matches because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
If those fixtures are concluded, they will be played in empty stadiums, a factor that led to Kamara discussing the Elland Road faithful with Jeff Stelling.
In response, Kamara said: “The atmosphere at Elland Road is something else. It is something else – and it’s been like that for donkey’s years.
“That’s something that players in recent years have struggled with. That support is so demanding – can you handle that support?

“This season they’ve been magnificent. The supporters and the players have been at one, in unison.
“For this [the suspension of action] to happen at this time to Leeds, they’ll feel it as much as Liverpool in the top division.”
There’s no doubt that Marcelo Bielsa has done a fantastic job during his two seasons at the club, and the side he has built really are a wonderful set of players, but the effect and contribution of the fanbase cannot be underestimated either.
There are few, if any, grounds in the country that can match Elland Road on a match day, and when the place is rocking it must feel like having an extra man for the lads on the pitch.
The togetherness and unity that the Whites boast, especially since Bielsa took over, has been immense, and has helped to create a really special atmosphere around the stadium, and even the city as a whole.
Securing promotion this summer would be the icing on the cake.
