Luke Ayling sends two-word message to Tyler Adams as Leeds United star suffers World Cup heartbreak

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams saw his World Cup dreams crumble on Saturday after a 3-1 defeat to The Netherlands in the round of 16.

Adams took to Instagram to reflect on his World Cup journey over hte last few weeks. The 23-year-old midfielder was nominated to be USA captain by his teammates and he followed it up with a handful of incredible performances.

“What a ride. So honored to be apart of such an amazing team, these boys are something special. Came up short, but the work continues to show the world what we are made of. Thank you everyone for the support in the past weeks it’s meant everything to myself and the team. We’ll be back. Better, stronger & together,” read Adams’ post.

Leeds United teammate Luke Ayling was quick on the scene to praise Adams for his efforts in Qatar. He simply wrote “Outstanding fella” in the comments. Journalist Fabrizio Romano also applauded Adams in the comments with three clapping emojis.

Jesse Marsch will be delighted to have Adams heading back to Elland road fit, but the American coach may find himself battling to keep his star midfielder in Yorkshire after Gazzetta dello Sport reported interest from Inter Milan.

Leeds fans were already falling in love with Adams before the World Cup, but his stunning performances in Qatar have only made him more likeable.

He arrived in the summer to try and fill the void of the outgoing Kalvin Phillips – something many Leeds fans deemed impossible.

But Adams didn’t try to emulate Phillips and instead made the position his own, quickly making him a fan favourite at Elland Road.

On top of his dominant performances, tireless work ethic and incredibly down-to-earth personality, Adams has displayed leadership more than anything in Qatar.

When Liam Cooper decides to depart the Whites, Adams has thrown his name into the hat to become the next club captain. He led an extremely young and inexperienced USA team to Qatar and held himself brilliantly.

Marsch deserves an abundance of praise for bringing him in over the summer, and the club now need to do everything possible to make sure he spends his future at Elland Road.
