Luke Ayling reacts to Burley Banksy mural of iconic Leeds goal
Luke Ayling has become the latest Leeds United figure to receive a special mural by the Burley Banksy, and it celebrates a brilliant moment last year.
Popular street art icon Andy McVeigh has become notorious in the Leeds fanbase for his work on the Whites.
He was even recognised by Gary Lineker last year and featured on BBC Match of the Day.
McVeigh hit the headlines once again last month but this time for the wrong reasons after his Ezgjan Alioski mural was vandalised by a Leeds fan angry at transfer links to Galatasaray.
That was a low point for him but he’s back and better than ever with a new one – and this time it’s paying tribute to Premier League ever-present Ayling who has taken the top-tier by storm this season.
The mural was posted by McVeigh on his personal Twitter profile and it tells the story of Ayling’s stunning goal against Huddersfield Town in the Championship last year.
It starts with the words “Last game before the world stopped going round…” followed by his shirt, Bryn Law’s famous commentary and Ayling’s celebrations.
Ayling responded to the tweet and said: “Class mate. Love seeing this.”

Brilliant Bill moment immortalised
That goal was always going to stick in our heads for its sheer brilliance but it took on even greater significance given it was our last game before the Covid-19 pandemic really took ahold in the country and ceased football for months.
But it’s important it doesn’t get overshadowed and we’re loving this from McVeigh again.
He’s put a smile on many of our faces with his brilliant street art and this is just another great example of the work he does.
It’s great to see him still enthused about doing the murals after his Alioski one was desecrated by mindless idiots.
But he’s back doing what he does best to honour a moment we’ll all cherish and a man we’ve got a lot of love for.
Bill has been a revelation under Bielsa and he has played every single one of our 31 Premier League appearances this season and there were even England rumours at one stage.
That shows just how great he’s been and we’re glad he continues to get recognised even with the likes of Raphinha stealing the headlines lately.
In other Leeds United news, Whites flop claims he was forced out by Andrea Radrizzani.
