Leeds United defender Luke Ayling looks set to be sidelined for a number of weeks with his latest injury.

The right-back was forced off during the 1-1 draw against Newcastle a couple of weeks ago, and will have missed the West Ham and Watford games.

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed the blow in his press conference today, sharing that Ayling needs surgery to fix the issue.

Phil Hay relayed the news on his personal Twitter account, sharing that it will be a simple procedure to clean out the problem.

"Ayling has a knee injury," he wrote.

"That requires what Bielsa called "simple" surgery (a clean-out job, essentially). Koch still has a pelvic problem. No timescale on his comeback yet."

Blow.

Is any surgery ever straightforward?

Yes, it may just be a simple clean-out procedure, but one wrong move could lead to a long-term absence for Ayling in the future.

Thankfully, this has come at a good time for the Whites, and if it can be done in the coming days, he will have the international break to recover.

Rob Price is one of the best medical staff members in the Premier League, and he will surely be advising that this is done immediately so he can have these two weeks to get back into action.

As for Robin Koch, it is hard to accept this news given his recurring injuries ever since arriving from Freiburg.

Thankfully, Diego Llorente returning makes most of us forget about the German, and having the Spaniard back is phenomenal news.
