Luke Ayling hails Leeds United fans after Manchester City thrashing
Luke Ayling has heaped praise on the Leeds United fans who stayed until the end and supported their team despite being thrashed.
On Tuesday [14 December], the Whites were hammered 7-0 by Manchester City, but the fans who made the short journey to Manchester supported the team throughout.
That didn’t go unnoticed by the 30-year-old who praised the supporters in an interview with the BBC.
He said: “The fans that were there were unbelievable; they stayed to the end; they clapped us off.
“If you get beat 7-0, you expect the fans to say some unpleasant things when you walk over to them, but I didn’t spot one fan saying anything.
“They were still singing our names and singing the songs, and they were absolutely brilliant, so credit to them.”

Lovely praise from Ayling.
You have to give credit to both the Leeds fans and Ayling. There are many fanbases who would struggle to even look at their team after a 7-0 defeat, never mind applaud them off.
The right-back deserves praise for coming out after a defeat like that and praising the fans because they could easily be forgotten about in all this.
Now, things don’t get easier for the Whites, and they have some key players out injured, and they face Arsenal and Liverpool next.
However, if the fans continue to get behind the players, you would hope that things will get better for the Whites in the coming weeks.
The January transfer window is also just around the corner, so you would hope that Leeds can strengthen the squad and move away from that drop zone.
Ayling speaks well here given the circumstances, and hopefully, Leeds will push on soon enough.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have their eyes on a new South American addition.
