Luke Ayling could make Leeds United starting XI v Aston Villa
Leeds United defender and fan favourite Luke Ayling could make the starting XI against Aston Villa when they next play in the Premier League on 2 October.
The Whites defender only recently returned to the first team after an injury but is yet to start a league game this season.
In their recent game, the 5-2 drubbing against Brentford, Marsch decided to throw him off the bench in the final 20 minutes.
With Leeds’ two matches following the Bees loss being postponed, they are not going to play a senior game until the end of the international break.
This would mean players like Ayling get more recovery time, and by the looks of it, Jesse Marsch appears to be keen on getting him back to full fitness.
The Leeds under-21s are going to be facing Southampton on Friday and there’s a very good chance that Ayling is a starter in that game.
Via their official Twitter handle, the Whites wrote, “Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford Luke Ayling, Junior Firpo, Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins set to feature in Friday’s U21s clash at Elland Road.”
There’s a very good chance that Marsch will be in attendance for this one and he will witness Ayling’s fitness first hand and possibly make the decision on whether or not he starts against Villa.
Rasmus Kristensen still needs some more time to settle and it does make sense to play the veteran over him.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have reached an agreement to sign a left-back, according to his agent.
