Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper send messages to Leeds United loanee Leif Davis for securing promotion

Leeds United youngster Leif Davis, who is on loan at Championship side Bournemouth, secured promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday night.

The Cherries faced Nottingham Forest in what was a must-win game for them.

They ended up beating them 1-0 on the night (May 3) and 22-year-old Davis, who moved there at the start of the season was part of the celebrations as they bounced back up.

Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper took to Instagram to congratulate the youngster on this feat.

First-team ready?

There were plenty of raised eyebrows when Davis was loaned out in the first place.

After Gjanni Alioski’s exit, he was the only recognised left-back in the squad.

Stuart Dallas played there a great deal last season, but that certainly wasn’t his primary position.

Even though there were plans to sign a new left-back, which ended up being Junior Firpo, the suggestion was that Davis should have been kept on as a backup.

Now that he’s done well at Bournemouth and played a key role in their promotion run, it remains to be seen whether Scott Parker does look to sign him permanently.

In case he doesn’t, Davis could do playing as second-fiddle to and even challenging Junior Firpo for a place in the playing eleven.

However, his injury record is far from impressive and this certainly could work against him in the coming years.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could look to sign a ‘Phenomenal’ attacking midfielder this summer as he’s already bid farewell to fans of his club.
