Liam Cooper sends message as Leeds United exit now confirmed
Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper have taken to social media to respond to the news that Jamie Shackleton has left Leeds United.
The Englishman has confirmed via Instagram (4 July) that he has departed Elland Road while confirming a move to Sheffield United in a separate post.
This news has seen current and former teammates react to the news with the likes of Ayling and Cooper being joined by Pascal Struijk.
The Dutchman said: “All the best bro.”
The other two stars delivered more heartfelt and long-form messages with the Middlesbrough man saying: “Amazing what you achieved at this great club. All the best in your next chapter my man.”
Cooper said: “Was a pleasure mate. A top man who gave everything for our club. Wishing you nothing but success.”
Leeds United stars react to Jamie Shackleton update
The Whites are dealing with a rebuilding job this summer after they missed out on promotion to the Premier League at Wembley.
Losing to Southampton in the playoffs led to concerns that stars like Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter could leave.
This process has already begun with Archie Gray departing to join Tottenham in a move which has left Leeds fans gutted, to say the least.
With that deal, there was a silver lining with Joe Rodon coming in the other direction but Shackleton has now departed on a free transfer.

He didn’t feature much under Daniel Farke last campaign so a move away from Elland Road makes sense from his point of view.
It is frustrating to fans that they are losing academy prospects but it is fair to say that the Englishman won’t be missed, as much as Gray, after a move to Sheffield United on a free transfer.
