Stuart Dallas was the star of the show as Leeds United beat Manchester City 2-1 on Saturday, and Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper have been showing their appreciation to their teammate.
The midfielder has been an unsung hero for Leeds, featuring in every game under Marcelo Bielsa this term.
He finished his two goals brilliantly at the Etihad and on Monday took to Instagram to express his “special feeling” and also praised his teammates.
And that praise was returned by Ayling and Cooper, who applauded Dallas’ character on and off the pitch.
It is clear to see that this group are a tight bunch and they portray that on and off the pitch.
Against City every player fought for each other and each played their part in keeping the opposition at bay for long periods.
That gave us the belief to grind out a point – until Dallas popped up in the last minute to snatch the win.
Dallas, Cooper and Ayling have been together for several years now and have been a huge part in the club’s success.
It is brilliant to see them competing against the best sides in the Premier League – with Dallas one of the best players on the pitch on Saturday.
He’s quickly going from unsung hero to absolutely vital cornerstone of the side.
Signings will likely be made in the summer but we would not be surprised if the trio continue to play a key part in the team next season – they are too important to leave out.
After the City game pundits are finally beginning to take notice of Dallas – Paul Dickov called him “outstanding” on Saturday [BBC] – and it is possible the club will recognise his contribution with the player of the year award.
