Luis Sinisterra may miss Leeds United clash v Aston Villa after hectic schedule is revealed
Luis Sinisterra could miss Leeds United v Aston Villa due to his Colombia schedule leaving him just 48 hours to prepare.
Leeds United’s wait for Premier League football finally comes to an end next Sunday (2 October), but Jesse Marsch’s side may be without star winger Sinisterra.
The 23-year-old jetted off to America to join up with his Colombia teammates last week and is scheduled to play against Guatemala and Mexico this week – the latter of which takes place on 28 September.
As pointed out by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Joe Donnohue, the 10-hour flight back to Yorkshire leaves Sinisterra with around 48 hours to prepare for the Villa clash.
With Sinisterra likely to be jet-lagged and under-prepared for next Sunday’s match, there’s a good chance he could miss out on the starting XI.
Sinisterra’s lack of availability may leave Leeds United regretting their decision to offload Dan James to Fulham in the summer. Marsch did a great job of adding some much-needed depth over the transfer window, but one position where the Whites are now slightly thin is out wide.
Jack Harrison is a guaranteed starter on one wing, but Sinisterra’s absence gives Marsch a serious selection headache for Sunday.
Wilfried Gnonto, despite preferring to play through the middle, could step in to play out wide, while Joe Gelhardt and Crysencio Summerville will also be pushing to feature.
The club had similar scheduling issues with Raphinha last season during his time with the Brazil national squad, and it seems Leeds fans haven’t escaped the stress and worry that comes with supporting South American stars.
There’s a good chance Sinisterra could feature from the bench against Aston Villa, but it looks likely that his streak of starts is set to end.
