Luis Sinisterra agent breaks silence over Leeds United ‘fight’ after deadline day loan exit to Bournemouth amid legal dispute

Simone Rondanini has celebrated Luis Sinisterra’s exit from Leeds United after a “fight” for “happiness” in a post online following the deadline day move.

The Colombian’s agent posted on his personal Instagram account on Saturday morning (2 September) a photo of himself with the 24-year-old holding a Bournemouth shirt after Sinisterra secured a late loan move to the Cherries after the 11pm deadline on Friday, with Jaidon Anthony coming the other way.

The move turned into a saga through deadline day, with the Whites apparently negotiating the deal amid a legal dispute over the validity of the release clause in his Elland Road contract [The Athletic, 2 September].

Rondanini said on his Instagram post: “Happiness has to be sought and, sometimes, you have to fight to get it. Together we made it easier. ‘Just say no to deal breaker’ YOU WIN.”

Sour taste

It won’t be a particularly positive development for anybody at Elland Road to see a star man leave on yet another loan after the 11th hour had long passed in the window.

The relegation release clauses were supposed to have expired in mid-August [Phil Hay, 1 September] so for the Cherries to end up taking Sinisterra without having to put big money on the table is a blow.

Anthony coming in softens it slightly, but given that it appears the Whites winger’s agent has got his client a move on what amounts to a technicality it is still an unwelcome move from a Leeds United perspective, especially after Tyler Adams left to the same destination in similar circumstances, albeit for a £20million-plus fee.

It should be noted from the Jean-Kevin Augustin affair that the club itself is far from squeaky clean in attempting to pull a fast one to get their own way, but that is clearly no consolation to the fanbase.

Although a similarly unedifying stand off with Willy Gnonto appears to have been resolved, and the attempts from Everton to sign the youngster have been seen off, Sinisterra has joined a long list of players to successfully escape playing in the Championship after contributing to the club being there in the first place.

Transfers are a fact of life in football but the fact that so many have departed thanks to release clauses for little or no return has been a major frustration this summer, and the best outcome for the now-Bournemouth man is likely that he performs well enough to net a large permanent fee next summer.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites were willing to meet the seven-figure asking price to land another deadline day signing.
