‘Loved every minute’ – Leeds player blown away after working under C’Ship rival boss
Leeds United defender Stuart Dallas has spoken of his love for Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill during their time together with Northern Ireland.
The defender has had a standout season at Elland Road, the same year in which O’Neill officially left his role as Northern Ireland manager.
Dallas went on to admit that Stoke will be in good hands with O’Neill who is now solely focused on matters with the Championship club.
The 29-year-old claimed that he owes his former manager a lot for his career which will now be under Marcelo Bielsa and next in line at Windsor Park.
“I loved every minute playing under Michael,” he told Belfast Live.
“I think I can speak on behalf of the group in saying he was very, very well thought of by the players and we owe him a lot.
“I always wanted to represent my country but it was an added bonus winning caps under Michael. He was someone I really wanted to play for.”
Working with both O’Neill and Bielsa has clearly helped Dallas who is currently playing the best football in his entire career.
The 29-year-old has started every single Championship game this season, the first time he has ever done so – 38 was previously his best at Leeds back in 2015/16.
On top of that, Dallas has also earned his highest average match rating with 6.9 this season – numbers which reflect his importance to this Whites side [WhoScored].
