‘Love watching them’ – Match of the Day trio blown away by ‘Incredible’ Leeds v Newcastle
Match of the Day trio Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Danny Murphy were blown away by Leeds United in their 5-2 win over Newcastle.
After only one win in six Premier League games, the Whites were devastating at Elland Road after going behind.
Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo, Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison all found the back of the net as the Whites prepared for the derby with Manchester United in the perfect manner.
Lineker started the praise on Wednesday night’s Match of the Day, with all three pundits finding it hard not to be blown away by the Whites.
“Leeds might be a tad inconsistent, but they’re consistently one of the best teams to watch,” he said.
Murphy then chimed in: “Love watching them.”
That was finally followed by Richards, who even added a little chant to show his amazement at Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
“Incredible. Leeds, Leeds, Leeds isn’t it,” he said.
This is exactly the type of praise that Leeds deserve.
The Whites were relentless against Newcastle and finally handed out the thrashing that so many people had predicted would happen sooner rather than later.
Leeds had 25 shots on goal, kept 68.7% of the possession and even made more tackles than the away side according to WhoScored.
Even facing adversity such as going behind didn’t stop Bielsa’s men, and they finally got the win that they had been craving for months.
The Christmas period can make or break teams in the Premier League, and there was no better way to start this non-stop run of fixtures which propels us perfect into Old Trafford on Sunday.
