‘Love it’ – Phillips & Ayling delighted with new Leeds contract announcement
Luke Ayling has reacted on Twitter after Leeds United announced that Jamie Shackleton has agreed a new contract with the club.
Leeds confirmed on their official website that Shackleton, 20, has penned a new four-year deal with the Whites after establishing his place in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team plans over the last couple of seasons.
Leeds fans are understandably delighted with the news and it seems that Ayling is thrilled too with the right-back taking to his personal Twitter account to react.
“That boy Shackleton,” Ayling wrote on Wednesday evening.
Kalvin Phillips also reacted to the update on Instagram.
The defensive midfielder wrote: “Love it, baby Shacks.”
Shackleton is clearly a popular member of the Leeds United squad despite his age.
The England Under-20 international is one of the hottest young prospects at Elland Road with him earning 48 appearances in all competitions already for the club he’s been at since the age of seven.
He scored goals in back-to-back matches at the end of last season as Leeds won the Championship title in style and we cannot wait to see how the versatile youngster can perform in the Premier League.
Bielsa has a bit of a tough decision to make on Shackleton because as good as it would be for him to play every now and then as a substitute in the top-flight, it might also benefit him massively to spend the season out on loan and start every week for a Championship club.
Either way, we trust that Bielsa’s going to make the best possible decision.
In other Leeds United news, the club is set to complete another new signing.
