Loaned-out Leeds player wants to return to Elland Rd and play for Whites
Rafa Mujica has insisted that he wants to have a future at Leeds United despite spending the season out on loan.
Mujica, 21, spent the first half of the season on loan at Extremadura in the Spanish second-tier but failed to impress as he made just eight appearances and didn’t score.
In January, Mujica’s loan spell at Extremadura was terminated and he was instead sent on a temporary deal to join Villarreal.
He’s since been in good form for Villarreal’s B team, scoring four goals in seven appearances with one of those goals coming against Barcelona B.
Mujica has now done a Q&A on his personal Instagram account and was asked if he was going to return to Leeds once his loan spell at Villarreal ends.
“I have a contract there. I would like [to go] back and play with Leeds,” the Spanish forward said.
It remains to be seen whether Mujica has a future at Leeds or not but the odds are not exactly in his favour.
Leeds only signed Mujica last summer and he has since been farmed out on two different loan spells.
Although he’s doing well for Villarreal B, it is still a level of football that is a lot lower than the Championship.
And if Leeds win promotion to the Premier League, Mujica could really struggle to get into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.
