LNER respond as Leeds United fans left in ‘impossible’ situation after new announcement

Leeds United have seen several fixture changes in the Premier League in recent weeks.

The Premier League have now announced that Leeds‘ trip to Crystal Palace will take place on Sunday, 15 March, changing only two weeks before when most travel plans were already sorted.

It comes weeks after fans were made to wait for the Brentford showdown at Elland Road to be confirmed as a late kick-off on a Saturday, rather than lunchtime.

It’s only the latest example of the Premier League‘s lack of care for fans, with many left in an impossible situation already before another trip to London.

Premier League changes hit Leeds hard

It’s not only Leeds fans who are impacted throughout the season, with ludicrous scheduling and distances travelled increasing to make more money.

Bryn Law took to X after the news to shed light on the situation facing travelling fans, who are yet again left in the dark when the Premier League makes late changes.

It means that there will be little chance of returning home via train.

“That change of date for Palace vs Leeds has removed the ability of Leeds fans to travel back by train, as I’ve just discovered,” Law wrote.

“LNER have network maintenance that means it’s all but impossible. Fans constantly being impacted by these late fixture switches now. Not good.”

What have LNER said about Leeds United fans?

It probably wasn’t the time for a lighthearted joke response, but that is what LNER decided to go with.

Despite the hours it will add onto journeys ahead of another work week, the trainline insisted it would be an “adventure” to get home, with replacement coaches in place for parts of the journey.

That is just what fans want after a full day on their feet, something that will double their travel time.

Before all of that drama, Leeds take on Manchester City and Sunderland at Elland Road, with more crucial points up for grabs in LS11.

It is where Farke’s men have been most dangerous, although a trip to Crystal Palace also represents a great chance for more points.

Leeds are six points clear of the bottom three, but will be looking to extend that ahead of the final international break, no matter the trouble facing them.
