Liverpool set to beat Leeds United in race to sign Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool have reportedly beaten Leeds United and the chasing pack in the race to sign Fulham forward Fabio Carvalho.

According to 90Min, the Reds are set to seal the deal for the 19-year-old and could look to bring him to Anfield in January.

Barring Leeds, West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton were also vying for the English teenager’s services this month.

Big blow

While Carvalho would not have been a first-team regular at Leeds, he easily could have gotten there in a couple of years.

Given how well he’s progressed over the last two seasons, the sky really is the limit for the 19-year-old.

There’s a reason why Liverpool and other super rich Premier League clubs were vying for his signature.

He’s predominantly a number but could be retrained to play as a number nine as well, given his age.

He would’ve been perfect for Marcelo Bielsa as he’s an extremely mobile and willing player who sacrifices a great deal for his team.

Sky Sports’ Don Goodman called him “brilliant” in 2021 while Gary Weaver detailed the teenager’s desire to win the Ballon d’Or during his career.

Such players are certainly in short supply at Elland Road and any club would want them inside their dressing rooms.

Unfortunately, Leeds have missed out on a terrific player who has the potential to be world-class.
