Liverpool are admirers of Leeds star Patrick Bamford

Liverpool are one of several clubs believed to be admirers of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford, reports The Athletic.

Jurgen Klopp has previously lavished praise on the 27-year-old, describing Bamford as “exceptional” with an “outstanding” work rate.

The billionaire-owned Reds [Forbes] have also been linked [Daily Mail] to Raphinha over the last few months so it seems Klopp has been watching Leeds closely this term.

The Athletic also provide an update on Bamford’s contracting situation, detailing that his deal was extended last summer until beyond 2022.

Hands off

It is nice to hear a great manager like Jurgen Klopp wax lyrical about our players but we would rather he kept his thoughts to himself.

Liverpool hold a lot of appeal and if Bamford or Raphinha learn of their interest there is a risk they will ask for a move.

This summer is another big one for the club but it is important we hold onto our biggest assets once again.

We have progressed throughout the season and recent performances show we are ready to take the next step and start challenging for Europe.

Bamford, as a central figure in our playing style, will continue to be key to our success, as will Raphinha.

And it is crucial we continue to build and improve the squad by signing players who can push that pair to be even better.

Upgrading backup options like Helder Costa must be the aim in the upcoming transfer window, while telling clubs our key players are not for sale.
