Liam Cooper sends short message as Leeds United exit confirmed

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has sent a goodbye message to Glen Kamara after the midfielder completed his move to Stade Rennais.

The Whites confirmed via their official website on 16 July that Kamara had finalised a transfer to the Ligue 1 side.

The Finland international took to his personal Instagram account to say goodbye to the Elland Road faithful on Tuesday (16 July).

Leeds captain Cooper was just one of his teammates to send a message, writing: “What a guy! Good luck bro.”

Glen Kamara departs Leeds United for Stade Rennais

It has certainly come as a surprise to see the 28-year-old depart Elland Road to move to France after completing his medical.

Just 12 months after signing for the Whites, the Finn is already on the move which certainly leaves Daniel Farke light in midfield.

This is especially the case having already lost the versatile Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur earlier on in the transfer window.

Ethan Ampadu often featured alongside either the Englishman or Kamara but now neither of those options are available.

It remains unclear whether or not there are replacement options already lined up but the Whites need to move quickly to bring some midfielders in.

With their opening fixture of the new Championship season against Portsmouth coming in less than a month’s time, a solution is needed soon.

There must be a reason why Leeds felt that losing Kamara this summer was something they could deal with – potentially making a quick profit is the main reason.
