Liam Cooper reacts as Leeds United make Daniel James announcement

Daniel James has been a key figure at Leeds United this season as they push for promotion to the Premier League again.

The Welsh wizard has bagged ten goals and nine assists in the Championship, with only Joel Piroe managing more at Elland Road.

The 27-year-old made four of those contributions in February with two goals against Watford (11 February) and two assists against Sheffield United (24 February).

He has now been recognised for his tremendous form with a prestigious award.

Leeds make new James announcement

The Whites star has been named as the EFL Championship Player of the Month for February after his remarkable displays.

Former captain Liam Cooper reacted to the announcement about his ex-teammate on the Leeds Instagram account.

He replied with a comment (7 March), saying: “Love to see it, Deej” with a chef’s kiss and flames emoji.

Leeds need James to keep up his form

Daniel Farke needs his key men to step up in the final stages of the season if the Peacocks are to secure Premier League football next season for the first time since the 2022-23 campaign.

James has stepped up on multiple occasions for the German but it will all count for nothing if Leeds fail to gain automatic promotion with 11 matches still to play before all is decided.

The race for promotion.

The Welshman is arguably the Whites’ most important player and needs to keep up his scintillating form as the campaign comes to a conclusion with the Whites having a five-point margin over Burnley.

Considering that he has consistently been the danger man for Farke’s side, it is very likely that he can do exactly that and fire the Elland Road side to the promised land.

There are more pressing concerns over whether other members of the squad can contribute, such as Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani who have failed to have the desired impact in recent weeks.

However, James is a reliable goalscorer at this level, there may be questions over his Premier League abilities but that is a matter for another day, as the focus right now is on getting out of the second tier.
