‘Have to be strong’ – Liam Cooper reacts as EFL confirms major Leeds update

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has delivered a message after the EFL released the fixture list for the final nine games of the Championship season.

The Scotsman believes that the Whites are the fittest and strongest squad in the division and that they are ready to prove it.

Leeds will travel to Cardiff City a week on Sunday, before welcoming Fulham and Luton Town to Elland Road.

Cooper admitted that every member of Leeds’ squad are ready to go and win the Championship as we get closer to the restart.

“We have to go full tilt for nine games,” he said via Leeds’ official Twitter account.

“We have to be strong. I believe we’re the fittest, strongest team. There’s not one lad that doesn’t believe we can’t go and win the Championship.”

In a time where certain Championship clubs aren’t happy with the restart, this is exactly what Leeds fans will be wanting to see.

Leeds have been back in training for a week now, with Kalvin Phillips sharing that the squad have completed two murder-ball sessions already.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay has confirmed that Leeds players are beating their pre-lockdown stats when running at Thorp Arch, and that has highlighted how hard they have worked during the enforced break.

Leeds made sure that their squad were given daily regimes with equipment such as exercise bikes to keep on top of the workload.

If Cooper is right and Leeds remain one of the fittest in the league, our remaining nine opponents may need all the luck in the world.
