Leo Hjelde still wanted in Leeds United transfer news as grenade market still
Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde is wanted by Serie A club Salernitana this summer, according to Corriere Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition on Sunday (23 July) that the potential deal is, however, at a standstill.
Salernitana currently have Domagoj Bradaric in the role of left-back, with the Croatian having made 31 appearances for the club last season.

“The grenade market is at a standstill,” according to Corriere Dello Sport (pg 18, 23 July).
“For the deputy Bradaric they continue to follow the track that leads to Leo Hjelde of Leeds, but also in this case Salernitana is waiting for the request from the English club.”

Another exit?
Exciting youngster Hjelde has made just five appearances for Leeds since joining from Scottish giants Celtic in 2021, having spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship at Rotherham.
He, therefore, has Championship experience under his belt, which could prove highly beneficial to Daniel Farke as he attempts to gain promotion to the Premier League with his new team at the first time of asking.
But whether or not the manager has Hjelde among his ranks remains to be seen, with Salernitana potentially able to persuade the 19-year-old to join the Serie A side.
That would be an exciting challenge for the teenager, but so would staying at Elland Road and fighting for a regular spot at left-back.
Hjelde can also operate at centre-back and at left midfield, with such versatility a great asset for any manager to have in their squad in the modern game.
